If like me you are a 14 Short, what clothes particularly suit you ?
Let me know what your favourites are ?
Are you able to wear heels ? I struggle with these due to a bad back, which plays up if I wear over a 1 inch heel ... so I just have to stick to my 5 foot 4 inches of height !
I like short jackets, scarfs, fairly skinny or straight leg trousers (size 14 short !) and I do quite like tunic tops.... I am not a great fan of skirts etc unless its for a special occasion, but then again if styling was to suit my size maybe I'd go for these more.
Stores which seem to suit my sizing include M&S, Tesco, Laura Ashley and Cotswolds too. Although this year the sizing was variable at M & S so of three pairs of trousers ordered online, only one fitted and the other two absolutely didn't !
So let me know your experiences and what styles suit you !
Welcome to my Blog ! I'm not unusual - in fact I'm pretty average ! Literally ! I'm a Size 14 ! More specifically a size 14 Short ! Why is it so difficult to find this size in the shops ? Especially in a style that suits !

Sizing Investigated
At age 18 I was a size 14. Over the years I have moved occasionally down to a size 12 but even today I seem to sit at size 14.
And yet ... when I look at photos of myself in my early 20s, I was definitely thinner.
but I am happy to still be a size 14. it sounds good !
On investigation I have discovered that our waists are edging up in size. Are we fooling ourselves ? Apparently there has been "size inflation" of clothing brands sizing. A size 14 is now 10 cms (or 4 inches) wider at the waist than in the 1970s.
Waist sizes have been creeping up over the years and fashion firms, whose aim is to sell more clothes, want to keep us all happy and make us feel we are still in the same size as before.
Incidentally this is probably why the smallest size is now a size 0 instead of when I was 18 the smallest size I remember was a size 8 !
The startling increase in pattern sizes in US sizing can be seen here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_sizing

Welcome to 14 Short - The Place To Be For Fashionable 14 Shorts !
Welcome ! Hello !
If you are like me and a fairly average middle sized person then, like me, you may have been frustrated that invariably our size is out of stock at the shops !
Especially when its a blouse or top that would look just right in our size !
Our local supermarket is often left with size 10 and size 20 and here is a photo of all sizes except 14 being available. This is very typical !
Why is it that even though they have computerised ordering systems for stock control available in stores they can't seem to manage to match clothing orders to sales and get this sorted. And stores already employ clothes design fashion graduates to design their clothes, but maybe if they thought a little more about which body shape & size was likely to suit particular clothes then they could adjust how many of each style was ordered in each size. Skinny jeans will look good on some figures while other people will look stunning in a tunic top yet both people may have quite different body shapes.
I would be happy to look at the items for sale in a store and pick out which ones I think will sell for which age group and which style would suit a size 10 or a size 14 or a size 18 ....
We can all look good in what we wear, and no doubt we may well all be different sizes over our lifetime and dependent on our health and our lifestyles over time.
But .... if the clothes are not in stock in the first place then shopping just gets harder !
And usually when I finally spot an item I like its already in the sale ! And guess which size is invariably out of stock! Yes you guessed it ! 14 Short !!
So let me know your experiences locally and which shops you like to shop in.
